What is Hydrocodone?

Simply put, hydrocodone is an effective agent to fight against coughs. It is also an opiate, because of which it is often prescribed for mild to moderate pain control. Often set against morphine for pain control capabilities, numerous studies have shown that when hydrocodone is taken as the parameters prescription, it is considered safe and rarely causes addiction. Why Is Hydrocodone addictive?

Act as narcotic hydrocodone attaching themselves to specific proteins called opioid receptors. When they bind to receptors in the brain, spinal cord and gastro-intestinal tract, they have the ability to change the way a person feels pain. Drugs such as hydrocodone also have the ability to assign parts of the brain that controls sensory perceptions such as pleasure, resulting in the initial euphoria that is produced.

But the repeated use of opioids leads to increased tolerance to the bodi such drugs. Thus, higher doses must be taken to achieve the same initial effect. Continued use can also lead to physical dependence. People receiving treatment using these drugs should be under medical supervision for the administration, and adequately supervised when stopping drugs to prevent and reduce withdrawal symptoms associated with this medicine.
