drug addiction effects on society

There is no doubt that illegal drugs are a scourge on our society. These drugs wreck the lives of many people including many young people. Some die because of their drug use. And crime is largely fueled by drugs. Thus, when our prisons become crowded with inmates who participated in the drug, the question arises as to what, if anything, society should do for these prisoners.

Some argue that prison is a place of punishment and prisoners should serve their time with few benefits and many difficulties. Others take a more humanitarian approach. But Whatever is your opinion, the fact remains that these prisoners may soon back on our streets, and could be involved in drugs again. If so these people may in again turn to crime to sponsor their addiction.

That is why the money was made available at different levels government to implement programs in prisons for inmates who have participated in illegal drugs. The objective of the program is to help prisoners to become drug free and be well prepared for life once they are released.

In some cases, expenses annual programs of drug treatment in the header bar of 10 million dollars. But there are conditions including the following.

Money is provided that if the treatment center is a separate part of the prison, if the program deals with the whole person and not just their addiction programs must operate for at least 6 months and must have specific goals on how to help addicts.

One aspect of the approach whole person is to help with job skills. Many prisoners were unemployed people who saw drugs as a means earn money or to relieve their despair of not being able to find work. By giving classes of prisoners to develop skills professional prisoners after their release, will be able to find work and avoid the need to make money by drugs.

A residential treatment center for people suffering from drug addiction will also examine the social and emotional aspects of prisoners. Much people lack the ability to connect with others and many suffer from psychological distress. They came from broken homes – and many have – and have no ability to understand things like love, consideration and empathy. They may have a strange and distorted worldview and their fellow citizens. Any program that aims to help drug addicts to prisoners to recover from their addiction should also help them acquire professional skills, learn to appreciate and consider the rights of others and help to heal their psychological wounds. It is a major task to be undertaken only if people do not reoffend.

Of course, it is difficult to know whether programs are effective. A prisoner may be released, but it could be months or even years before they can be cleared to the extent criminal behavior is concerned. Not all inmates will be successful once released into society, but any prisoner who reoffend not allow the community a lot of money and suffering.
